Geoff Countryman is a saxophonist, multi-instrumentalist, composer, producer, engineer and teacher.  Born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, Geoff came to New York to attend NYU’s Jazz performance program where he studied with Gil Goldstein, Lenny Pickett, John Scofield, and Chris Potter.  Since graduating from NYU he has created an impressive body of work and has been in high demand.

He can be seen in Julie Taymor’s “Across the Universe”, has performed regularly with the Saturday Night Live Band and with Chico Hamilton’s “Euphoria”. He produced Kenny Werner’s album “Lawn Chair Society” (Blue Note Records) and Dave Douglas’ “High Risk” and is a featured performer on hip-hop artist T.I.’s platinum, Grammy nominated album “King” (Atlantic records) and the Emmy WInnning “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt”. As a copyist, his work has been a part of the Oscar winning score for “Joker” and Emmy winning shows like “The Marvelous Ms. Maisel” and “Saturday Night Live”

Geoff has enjoyed working with a number of prominent artists including, Patti LaBelle, John Baptiste, The Wutang Clan, Steve Jordan, Dr. Luke, Steven Bernstein, Teddy Thompson, Leon Pendarvis, Mike Mainieri, producers Neil Jason and Al Bell, Emmy award winner Katreese Barnes, and Langhorne Slim among many others.  

When Geoff doesn’t have an instrument in hand, you can find him behind the boards of his mobile studio, recording a wide range of Grammy award-winning artists in New York Cities most prestigious venues. His company, 6 time Grammy nominated Geoff &Tyler Recording, responsible for Dave Douglas’  and “The Dave Douglas Quintet: Live at the Jazz Standard” (Greenleaf Music), “Lee Konitz: Live at the Village Vanguard”, Gregory Porter’s “Water” and many others.

 His professional background also includes extensive commercial work on national television streaming spots. He continues to record, compose and produce music for TV, film and Internet.
